Netsuki are a toggle that was attached to a sagemono  and worn on the obi sash of a kimono.  These delicately carves objects were praised works of art.  They were carved from Ivory or wood.  Prized treasures they are collected, worn, and displayed all over the world.   The crab is smoothly carved but with plenty of detail. Its black eyes are the finishing touch.
